Designed to enable you to gain entry into the legal profession, and to become a Certified Practicing Valuer and Certified Property Practitioner, you will enjoy the flexibility of studying online combined with optional work integrated learning opportunities to enhance your learning experience. This course will allow you to seek admission as an Australian Legal Practitioner, after completing the required professional training (Practical Legal Training Course), and is accredited by the Legal Practitioners Admissions Board of Queensland and the Australian Property Institute.

The Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Property is a multidisciplinary qualification designed to enable you to gain entry into the legal profession and to become a Certified Practicing Valuer and Certified Property Practitioner.
During your legal studies, you will learn about legal procedures and key legislation, develop skills necessary to identify, analyse and evaluate facts in relation to legal frameworks. The core areas of the law degree match those required for admission to the legal profession including statutory interpretation, criminal law and procedure, contracts, torts, constitutional law, equity, administrative law, property, company, evidence, professional responsibility and civil procedure.
You will also develop your property skills within a broad business context in the Bachelor of Property. The course is accredited by the Australian Property Institute as providing the educational requirements necessary to practise as a professional property valuer, property manager, property economist and other specialised fields within the property industry.
You will benefit from the flexibility to study online to allow you to balance your study, work, family and other commitments. With flexibility in mind, you have the option to undertake experiential learning opportunities including moot simulations, developing legal apps, pro bono community service opportunities and the option to seek out work placements.

You are required to complete 24 law units, of which four units will be selected from one of the following laws areas; liberal law, commercial law, or legal practice. You will also complete 16 property units.
The course is designed to give a strong grounding in both the disciplines of law and property. Assessment is overseen through university governance processes, along with the discipline's pastoral responsibility. The course adheres to CQUniversity's academic standards and continual renewal and improvement framework.

|Legal Practicum||LAWS12073||Students will be able to undertake at their option an overseas or domestic practicum placement or engagement with a complex work simulation.|

Prerequisites: English (4,SA) or equivalent
English Language Proficiency Requirements:
If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or United States of America you are required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University.
Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion of:
- a secondary qualification (Year 11 or 12, or equivalent), or
- tertiary diploma level qualification, or
- bachelor level qualification study for a period of at least 2 years fulltime with a minimum overall GPA 4.0
completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland, or United States of America.
If you do not satisfy any of the above you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following
scores as below.
- An International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) overall band score of at least 6.0 overall with a minimum 5.5 in each subset; or
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) ‐ Requires 550 or better overall & minimum TWE score of 4.5 (Paper Based Test), or 75 or better overall and no score less than 17 (Internet Based Test); or
- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) ‐ Requires an overall score of 54 with no sub‐score less than 46; or
- An Occupational English Test with Grades A or B only in each of the four components; or
- Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) ‐ Score of 180 or above; or
- Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English ‐ Score of 200 or above.
English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study, and must appear on a single result certificate.

Security RequirementsThe capstone unit LAWS12073 Legal Practicum may have security requirements if students choose an overseas placement. Legal Practicum students will be given orientation with regards to applied ethics in the workplace; professional obligations.
The Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Property prepares graduates for a career as a legal professional. Aside from the traditional roles as a solicitor, barrister or in-house counsel, a law degree is useful for careers in academia, business, the public service and politics.
The Bachelor of Property prepares you to pursue a number of different careers in the property industry including roles as consultant, land economist, market researcher portfolio manager, property analyst, property developer, property financier, property manager, property sales representative, and property valuer.

|What is a Student contribution?||As a Commonwealth supported student, you will contribute towards the cost of your education by paying a Student Contribution. |What is my Student Contribution?||
Your Student Contribution fee is charged per unit of study and is dependent on the Student Contribution Band for each unit. Student Contribution Bands are categorised by study disciplines and help provide an estimate of course fees.
The majority of units within this course fall within Band 3. Some units may fall within Band 1 and/or 2.
Student Contribution amounts for each band provide an estimate of the cost of your course. Your course may consist of units from more than one band so your fees could vary from the indicated amount as units are spread across a number of bands. |HECS-HELP and payment options||
HECS-HELP is the loan scheme provided the Australian Government to help eligible Commonwealth supported students pay their student contributions through a loan. Eligible students can use a HECS-HELP loan to pay for all or some of their Student Contribution amount. If you elect to use a HECS-HELP loan, this means that you will defer payment of your Student Contribution amount and repay your HECS-HELP loan when your income is above the compulsory repayment threshold.
If you are not eligible for a HECS-HELP loan, or you are required to pay your Student Contribution upfront, you will need to pay your fees no later than the census date for the term in which you are studying.
You will also incur a Student Services and Amenities Fee.

The Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Property enables you to enter the legal and property professions. Upon graduation, and after completing the required professional legal training, you will be able to proceed to practise as a legal practitioner. You will also meet the educational requirements to practise as a certified property valuer, certified property practitioner, property manager, property economist and other specialised fields within the property industry. The complementary nature of these two disciplines and the skills, knowledge and experience you will gain, gives you a competitive edge in both the legal and property professions and prepares you for jobs of the near future.

Your studies are strongly focussed on developing your professional profile and relevant professional experience with a range of experiential learning opportunities included in your course.
Within the law units, these experiential opportunities include simulations such as moots, branching simulations, and role-plays; drafting legal documents; client interviewing exercises; developing legal apps and pro bono community service opportunities. You will also complete a legal practicum unit which gives you the opportunity to complete an international study tour, work placement, social innovation project, or workplace simulation. The practical focus and legal experience you gain within your legal practicum allow you to apply your skills and knowledge to legal problems and scenarios in a legal environment.
