We do this through active participation in local, national and global conferences involving government and non-governmental organisations. In addition to this, our researchers, academics and staff collaborate in international research projects and learning initiatives that address the SDGs.

Participation in Conferences aligned to SDGs

We purposefully and actively participate in conferences and events aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) throughout the year to have an open and robust dialogue addressing SDGs with our communities and stakeholders.

Our researchers and academics present their research efforts and projects at conferences locally, nationally and internationally.

Michelle Thompson delivered a paper online at the Council for Australiasian University Tourism and Hospitality Education (CAUTHE) 2021 Conference with a focus on Transformations in Uncertain Times: Future Perfect in Tourism, Hospitality and Events.  The conference was held from 9 - 12 February 2021.  The paper was titled "A realist approach to assessing pro-poor benefits from tourism in the Solomon Islands

Nguyen Thang, Giles Oatley, Andrew Stranieri and Darren Walker presented a paper titled "Non-invasive smartphone use monitoring to assess cognitive impairment" at the 2021 13th International Conference on Computer and Automation Engineering, ICCAE, a virtual conference that ran from 20 - 22 March 2021.

Mahmoud El Khodr, Shobana Ashokkumar, Belal Alsinglawi, Omar Darwish, Ola Karajeh and Ergun Gide presented online a paper titled "A cloud-based mobile application for women with gestational diabetes" at the International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications held from 12-14 May 2021 in Toronto, Canada.

Shahadat Uddin, Tasadduq Imam & Mohammad Ali Moni Presented a paper titled "The implementation of public health and economic measures during the first wave of COVID-19 by different countries with respect to time, infection rate and death rate" at the Australiasian Computer Science Week Conference held online from 1-5 February 2021 in Dunedin New Zealand.

Nektarios Karanikas, Sara Pazell, Andrew Wright & Elise Crawford presented a paper online titled "The What, Why and How of Good Work Design: The Perspective of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Australia" at the International Conference on Applied Human Factors and Ergonomics held from 25-29 July 2021.

Anjum Naweed, Lorelle Bowditch, Janine Chapman, Jillian Dorrian & Nora Balfe presented a paper at the virtual conference the paper titled "Exploring the structure and content of pro formas for signal passed at danger incidents in Australia and New Zealand" at the 21st Conference of the International Ergonomics Association, IES.  The conference was held online from 13 - 18 June 2021.

Mahesh Kayastha, Shakir Karim, Raj Sandu & Ergun Gide presented a paper titled "Ethereum Blockchain and Inter-Planetary File System (IPFS) based Application Model to Record and Share Patient Health Information: An Exemplary Case Study for e-Health Education in Nepal" at the 19th International Conference on Information Technology Based Higher Education and Training (ITHET) held from 4-6 November 2021 online and in Sydney, Australia.

Ryan Ebardo & Santoso Wibowo presented online a paper titled "I Work to Learn: The Lived Experiences of Working Students in Online Learning During COVID-19" at the 29th International Conference on Computers in Education. The Conference was held on 22-26th November 2021.

Juan Munoz-Carpio, Zohaib Jan and Angelo Saavedra delivered a paper titled "Machine learning for learning personalization to enhance student academic performance" at the XVI Latin American Conference on Learning Technologies from 19-21 October 2021 held in Arequipa, Peru.

Santoso Wibowo, Mubarak Rahamathulla, Sameera Mubarak & Rongbin Yang presented a paper at the Pacific Asia Conference on Information System on the 12 - 14 July in Dubai. The paper was titled "Assessing the Effects of Perceived Qualities on E-learning Student's Attitude".

Joanne Dargusch & Joanna Tai presented a paper titled "What are the exam experiences of students with disabilities?" at the Australian Association of Research in Education Annual Conference on 27 November - 03 December 2021.

Mohammad Rasul & Nirmal Mandal presented a paper titled "Supervision and management practices of Final Year Engineering Projects: Impacts of COVID-19 pandemic" at the "Research in Engineering Education Symposium & Australasian Association for Engineering Education Conference" in 2021.

Ramadas Narayanan, Abeer Abdullah Al Anazi, Roberto Pippia & Mohammad Rasul presented a paper at the 3rd International Conference on Energy and Power (ICEP2021) from 18 - 20 November 2021. The paper was titled "Design Optimization of Solar Desiccant Cooling System for the Climatic Condition of Kuwait".

Sayed Hoseini, Ayub Bokani, Jahan Hassan, Shavbo Salehi and Salil Kanhere delivered a paper at the virtual conference of the 2021 IEEE 18th Annual Consumer Communications & Networking Conference (CCNC), held over three days from 9-12 January 2021.  The paper titled "Energy and service-priority aware trajectory design for UAV-BSs using double Q-learning".

Mohammad Anwar, Mohammad Rasul, Nanjappa Ashwath & Muhammad Bhuiya presented the paper titled "Ternary or binary blend? A case study using papaya seed oil biodiesel" presented at the International Conference on Mechanical Engineering, ICME held in Dhaka from 18 through to 20 December 2019, the paper was published in 2021.

HM Mahmudul, Mohammad Rasul, Ramadas Narayanan & Delwar Akar presented a paper at the 3rd International Conference on Energy and Power (ICEP2021) at Chiang Mai University in Thailand. The paper was titled "Performance Assessment of Solar Assisted Anaerobic Digester System: Simulation and Application in Central Queensland Region".

Sai Madas, Ramadas Narayanan & Prasad Gudimetla delivered a paper at the 3rd International Conference on Energy and Power (ICEP2021) at Chiang Mai University in Thailand. The paper was titled " A Systematic Review on Furtherance of Photovoltaic Thermal Panel Technology".

Umme Mumtahina, Sanath Alahakoon & Peter Wolfs presented a paper titled "A Comparative Study of Phase Locked Loops for Microgrid and Storage Converter Applications" at the 2021 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT Asia) held in Brisbane, Australia, from 5-8 December 2021.
