Research

The scholarship is available to support one PhD student (must be a domestic student) over 3.5 years, providing his/her stipend at a rate of $41,650 (p.a. for 3.5 years), training $5000 (p.a. for three years), total travel $5000, and thesis allowance $840. The PhD candidate will be working on a project where he/she will develop an innovative Artificial Intelligence (AI) model for identifying and locating weeds in livestock farms from UAV images.


An undergraduate with Honors or Postgraduate Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or related fields, along with appropriate research experience.

An undergraduate with Honors or Postgraduate Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or related fields; Have some research experience with publications; Experience with image processing and AI modelling; Experience with AI and ML algorithms; proficiency in Python programming;  experience in computer vision techniques for object detection, tracking, and classification; understanding of sensor technologies such as LiDAR, radar, and cameras;  experience with GPS, IMU, and other localization technologies;  excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate technical concepts to technical, e.g., as demonstrated in past published work, and non-technical stakeholders;  a strong ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and methodologies; demonstrated capability to implement technology in a field environment.
