CQUniversity's STEM Expo to host Queensland's Chief Scientist
CQUniversity will host Queensland's Chief Scientist Professor Hugh Possingham as its keynote speaker at the 2021 STEM Expo next week.
In addition to his speech at the STEM Expo at CQUni's Gladstone Marina campus on 11 March' Prof Possingham will also tour the STEM facilities and visit the Advanced Technology and Innovation Centre (ATIC) and the Central Queensland Innovation Research Precinct (CQIRP) in Rockhampton.
Professor Hugh Possingham is a conservation biologist and passionate bird watcher and will also lead a fun and educational bird walk in Gladstone on Friday 12 March and Rockhampton Saturday 13 March.
CQUni Senior Lecturer' Australia Pacific LNG STEM Central Lead and ATIC Coordinator Dr Linda Pfeiffer said it was quite a coup to have Prof Possingham for the STEM Expo.
"We are very pleased to be welcoming Prof Possingham to the 2021 STEM Expo'" she said.
"His address will be of particular interest to educators and community members with an interest in citizen science.
"Places are limited due to social distancing requirements so we're encouraging people to arrive early.
A range of exhibitors will also feature at the STEM Expo' including CQUniversity' Boyne Island Environmental Education Centre' the Coastal Marine Ecosystems Research Centre (CMERC)' Future-Makers' Gidarjil Development Corporation Limited and Gladstone Ports Corporation.
