Numbers prove high-schoolers keen to experience university life
Over 1100 students from 65 high schools across six CQUniversity Queensland regions have recently participated in the annual University Experience event.
While most Uni Experience events were cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic' this year's Year 12 students came out in droves to attend their respective CQU campus events.
In 2019' almost 700 high-schoolers attended events across the CQU regional Queensland footprint including in Rockhampton' Cairns' Townsville' Bundaberg' Mackay and Gladstone' while in 2021' that number almost doubled to almost 1'200.
Manager of Student Recruitment Kylie Ciocca said she was thrilled to see so many high school students show interest in not only the Uni Experience events' but in CQUniversity more generally.
"Uni Experience is a free' one day on-campus event allowing Year 12 students to explore their post-high school study options' including both higher education degrees and TAFE courses'" Ms Ciocca said.
"The students had opportunities to participate in a number of interactive sessions that were aligned with their courses of interest at our Uni Experience events. These ranged from aircraft inspections (Bachelor of Aviation) to gameplay testing (Bachelor of Digital Media)' simulations (Paramedic Science / Nursing / Medical Science) and so much more.
"They really immersed themselves in uni life for a day' providing them with a true representation of what they can expect if they enrol into post-secondary education with us."
