Community Bank Sarina continues collaboration with CQU to champion local students

Community Bank Sarina reinforced its commitment to its scholarship partnership with CQUniversity (CQU) at the recent launch event' announcing an additional scholarship on offer compared to previous years.

It was announced at the launch that Community Bank Sarina would offer two Higher Education Scholarships valued at $6000 each and three Apprenticeship Scholarships valued at $4000 each.

The scholarships will support the successful recipients for three and four years' respectively.

Community Bank Sarina Board Chair Karen May said the purpose of this community investment was to "influence positive change and develop community capacity".

"The key to building a prosperous community and region is by empowering our youth and giving them the tools to help them succeed'" Ms May said.

"We are very proud to support these scholarships and' in turn' education in our regional community and ultimately adding to the skills base of the region.

"We know that students who study and get their trade qualifications and degrees in the region are more likely to stay and work in the region."

CQUniversity Associate Vice-President NQ and Hinterland Professor Pierre Viljoen welcomed the continuation of the partnership.

"CQUniversity truly values this long-standing commitment of Community Bank Sarina - which started more than a decade ago – in its support of local students in higher education'" Prof Viljoen said.

"The success of this partnership not only benefits our local students but adds to the success of our region as a whole."

2021 scholarship recipient Georgia Beveridge encouraged local students to apply' saying that the scholarship is an "amazing opportunity" for any apprentice or degree student at CQUniversity.

"Receiving this scholarship not only helped relieve some of the financial pressure of being a student' it was also an encouragement'" Ms Beveridge said.

"It's very motivating knowing there are people in the community that believe in me and my abilities to achieve my goals.

"I'm forever grateful to Community Bank Sarina and CQUniversity for this opportunity."

Applications for scholarships are now open and close March 31' 2022.
