Hundreds inspired for social impact with Festival of Change

CQUniversity's annual Festival of Change is in full swing for its fifth year in 2022' and hundreds of people have already attended inspiring events driving sustainability' social enterprise' and community.

The Festival of Change began on Monday 1 August' with a big-impact event featuring CQUniversity Outstanding Alumnus of the Year and Indigenous health care leader Dr Marjad Page.

The proud Kalkadoon' Waanyi and Gangalidda man' and Senior Medical Officer at Kambu Health in Ipswich' was the first Traditional Owner to practice medicine on Kalkadoon lands.

CQU Brisbane campus coordinated Dr Page's visit to Hymba Yumba Independent School' where he shared with 'jarjums' (students) his personal journey and professional work to influence public policy and community wellbeing.

CQU Associate Vice-President (South East Queensland) and Director Strategic Engagement Chris Veraa also attended the event' and said Dr Page made important connections with the young Indigenous attendees.

"Dr Page shared the experiences that shaped his life and career' through a lens that young First Nations people could relate to'" Mr Veraa said.

"I left feeling incredibly inspired and I know many of the students did as well... (some) remarked that they got goose bumps as Dr Page spoke."

Featuring two weeks of free events across nine campuses and online' Festival of Change celebrates social innovation and hears from experienced changemakers leading projects that are changing the world.

The exciting schedule has put a big focus on participation' with lots of interest in the one-hour social enterprise design challenge' and opportunities to shop' eat' store food' travel' and grow communities sustainably.

Held annually since 2018' Festival of Change is part of CQUniversity's social innovation work as a global Ashoka U Changemaker University' and as Australia's first social enterprise university certified by Social Traders.
