24 August 2022

CQUniversity students are among the most satisfied in the country when it comes to their university experiences.

That's according to the latest results from the 2021 Student Experience Survey (SES)' released today' which places CQUniversity in the top five nationally for public universities.

CQUniversity has jumped more than three per cent in student satisfaction ratings year-on-year' from 75.3 per cent satisfaction in 2020 to 78.4 per cent in 2021.

'This jump in student satisfaction is a testament to the world-class teaching and student support staff that we have at CQUniversity'' Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Nick Klomp said.

CQUniversity sits 5.4 per cent higher than the national average for student satisfaction' ranking fifth among all public universities and eighth overall.

The SES is a national survey collecting data on key aspects of the higher education student experience' focusing on aspects that are measurable and linked with learning and development outcomes.

The SES measures five aspects of the student experience including Skills Development' Learner Engagement' Teaching Quality' Student Support and Learning Resources.

CQUniversity has increased its satisfaction rates across three of the categories including Skills Development' Learner Engagement and Learning Resources.

'Learner Engagement improved significantly (4.6 per cent) and shows that our students feel prepared for study and have a sense of belonging'' Professor Klomp said.

'While the pandemic continued to cause disruptions for university students nationally throughout 2021' with lockdowns and restrictions put in place across the country' it's pleasing to see that our students still rated CQUniversity highly in areas such as Learner Engagement'' he said.

Professor Klomp said CQUniversity's sector-leading online learning platforms and resources would have been a contributing factor behind CQUniversity's strong showing in the Learner Engagement category.

'Having such strong systems in place has meant that our students have been able to remain well-connected and engaged throughout their studies'' he said.

'On behalf of the university' I'd like to warmly thank our students for completing the survey and providing us with their valuable feedback.'
