CQU alumnus Matthew proud to be acknowledged at Queensland Rural Ambassador Awards
Every day CQUniversity alumnus Matthew Richardson is proud to step onto the paddock and represent the agricultural industry' so much so that he was recently named as runner-up at the 2022 Queensland Rural Ambassador Awards.
Matthew's journey to the Queensland Rural Ambassador Awards began when his passion for agriculture and the beef industry led him to CQU and its Bachelor of Agriculture program' which he completed in 2020.
"CQU's course gave a broad overview of the whole agriculture industry. Everything from cattle to cropping to business'" he said.
"I am currently working as a Beef Extension Officer with the Queensland Government's Department of Agriculture & Fisheries."
Matthew said he was proud to have his passion acknowledged at The Queensland Rural Ambassador Awards' which allows young people to promote Queensland' agriculture' rural communities and show societies' while providing an avenue for local communities and Ag Shows to recognise' celebrate and develop future leaders.
"Being a finalist and runner-up was a great experience for myself and also a great opportunity to showcase the agriculture industry and everything it offers'" he said.
"I highly recommend CQU's Bachelor of Agriculture course. CQU has campuses in Bundaberg' Emerald and Rocky which is the heart of the agriculture industry.
"It means students can stay where they live and work in the industry and still study agriculture."
