CQUniversity Associate Professor Ritesh Chugh’s steadfast commitment to diversity in education has earned him the prestigious title of Senior Fellow by the International Education Association of Australia (IEAA).
IEAA is Australia’s leading association for international education, striving to empower professionals, engage institutions and enhance Australia’s reputation as a provider of world-class education.
Ritesh is the Information and Communication Technologies Engagement Lead for the School of Engineering and Technology, and a sought-after socio-technological expert, with his research and knowledge recognised worldwide.
Driven by his desire to foster meaningful international education perspectives, Ritesh sees the IEAA accolade as the latest in a series of achievements throughout his impactful career.
“To be recognised as a Senior Fellow by the IEAA is a significant milestone in my career. It acknowledges not only my sustained contributions to international education, but also the collaborative efforts of colleagues and partners who have supported and challenged me along the way,” he said.
“Most importantly, it is a tribute to the students – past and present – who have embraced the opportunities of international education and inspired me with their curiosity. This recognition affirms the value of fostering globally minded initiatives within higher education and further motivates me to continue advancing international engagement and educational excellence.”
Ritesh is the first CQUniversity employee to receive a Senior Fellow recognition from the IEAA.
“Knowing that I am the first CQU employee to receive this award is humbling and deeply gratifying. It highlights the dedication and commitment of the university’s international education community.
"I see this not as a personal accolade alone, but as a reflection of the collective work and leadership at CQUniversity that supports internationalisation and global learning.
"I hope this achievement inspires others within the University to pursue similar professional recognition and to further enhance our international education initiatives.”
CQU Vice-President Academic Professor Michelle Bellingan congratulated Ritesh on his achievement.
“I am delighted to see that Ritesh’s dedication has been recognised by the IEAA,” Professor Bellingan said.
“Ritesh has worked tirelessly for many years, not only delivering a world-class ICT program, but also maintaining a clear focus on supporting and fostering quality international education. As a role model to many at CQUniversity, staff and students alike, Ritesh is most deserving of this international recognition.”
Looking ahead, Ritesh said the recognition would only strengthen his commitment to international education.
“I am committed to sharing this recognition by mentoring colleagues, fostering international partnerships and advocating for equitable, globally engaged education,” he said.
Reflecting on his journey, he added:
“As someone who came to Australia as an international student, this recognition is especially meaningful. It highlights the opportunities and growth that international education has provided me and reinforces my belief in the transformative power of cross-cultural learning and collaboration.”
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to fostering global connections and shared understanding:
“International education invites us to learn, share and grow beyond borders. It encourages us to embrace new perspectives, build lasting connections and find common ground in diversity. Through these experiences, we learn not only about others but also about ourselves, shaping a more inclusive and empathetic world.”
