As the first student to complete CQUniversity’s hyperflexible Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Entrepreneurship, Suzanne Mullarvey’s enhanced skills and knowledge, combined with decades of experience, will be in high demand.
Suzanne recently completed the course hosted by CQU’s Learning Design and Innovation Directorate and offered through CQU’s Be Different platform, because she saw it as an opportunity to develop her capabilities further.
“I undertook the course to enhance my skills and broaden my knowledge base. I saw it as an opportunity to develop my leadership abilities, gain insights into effective management practices, and expand my career options,” she said.
“The Graduate Certificate training provided me with valuable insights and skills that have helped me in various aspects of my professional and personal development.
“It equipped me with a deeper understanding of leadership principles, effective communication strategies, and the ability to navigate complex organisational dynamics.
“Moreover, the training helped me cultivate critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, which are essential for leadership roles in any field.
“Overall, the Grad Cert training has empowered me to be more confident, capable, and adaptable in my transformational approach to leadership and contemporary management challenges.”
Suzanne is keen to take the next step in her career after working in hospitality, including a hotel in Kuala Lumpur, in the public service sector, and as a peer support worker for Lifeline.
“I hope to integrate the knowledge and skills I've gained into prospective positions by implementing effective leadership strategies, fostering a collaborative work culture, and inspiring my team to achieve their goals,” she said.
“I dedicate this award to my father who received an honorary doctorate from CQU and to my mother who was a dedicated nurse for three decades.
“Acknowledging their influence and honouring their achievements brings a deep appreciation for the role they played in shaping my commitment to lifelong learning.
“I wish to pay tribute to their legacy whilst celebrating my own accomplishments. My dedication to learning will continue to inspire others, just as my parents inspired me.”
Suzanne thrived in the hyperflexible learning environment, and she has taken the next step by enrolling in the hyperflexible Graduate Diploma of Business Administration (Leadership). Hyperflexible courses are self-paced postgraduate courses where students can enrol at any time.
The Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Entrepreneurship has been developed specifically to enhance participants’ employability under CQU’s Graduate Guarantee. From 2022, if students successfully complete any undergraduate degrees and are not able to secure part-time or full-time employment in a relevant field within six months, the Graduate Guarantee will support their continued learning at no cost.
