Musical March at the Con
CQUniversity’s Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music (CQCM) is set to captivate Mackay audiences with two vibrant musical performances this month.
Whether you're a jazz aficionado or a lover of heartfelt melodies, these concerts will offer something for everyone.
CQCM Director, Professor Judith Brown AM will perform her renowned Judith, Stuart and Friends concert, titled ‘Feels Like Home’ on Wednesday, 13 March at 6.00pm.
The seasoned pianist has been holding these annual shows for the past 23 years.
This year’s performance will feature special guest artist Nicole Thomson showcasing her vocal talents.
“I am thrilled to perform for our community for another year, and with Nicole Thomson as a special guest artist, it will elevate the show to new heights,” Prof Brown AM said.
“Community engagement is at the heart of all CQCM activities and 'Feels Like Home' is not just about music; it's about evoking emotions and creating an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome and connected."
The following week, a stellar line-up of CQCM music staff along with special guest Jacki Cooper will perform Friday Jazz @ the Con.
Dr David Reaston on guitar, Dr Peter McKenzie on saxophone, and Jason Smyth-Tomkins on drums will have audiences tapping their feet and swaying to the rhythm.
"Friday Jazz @ the Con is an opportunity for our talented faculty members to showcase their passion for jazz music and share their expertise,” Prof Brown AM said.
“We invite everyone to immerse themselves in the magic of jazz and experience the joy it brings."
Judith, Stuart, and Friends is a free event.
Tickets for Friday Jazz @ the Con can be purchased online on the CQCM website or at the door.
