Alison was a receptionist in a real estate company when she realised that working with young people was what she was put on this planet to do. She was very grateful for CQUniversity's presence in regional Queensland, which enabled her to finish her degree.

Since graduation, Alison has taught in secondary schools and conducted educational research worldwide. She currently works with pre-service teachers at the University of the Sunshine Coast as a lecturer in curriculum and pedagogy. Her job involves research into the effects of stress and trauma on students' learning, both in Australia and abroad. She also lectures courses that prepare pre-service teachers for their future professions.

Alison regards her studies with CQU as a launching pad for everything she does today. She learnt how to teach at CQU and now has the privilege of teaching others how to teach as well.
