Stephen completed his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Education in Science Education at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He spent a year volunteer-teaching Biology and Chemistry in Fiji and another year volunteer-teaching English in Korea.
Stephen's studies at CQUniversity trained him to be a successful researcher, administrator, and graduate advisor. He is thankful to his advisors, Mike Coates and Steve McKillup, for their guidance through his doctoral degree.
Stephen is now a professor, researcher and the director of the Graduate Biology Program at Loma Linda University in California, USA. His main research area is sea turtle biology in Honduras, Jamaica, and Thailand. He is currently teaching the next generation of masters and doctoral students in marine biology research, focusing on intertidal organisms, sea turtle biology, ecology, and conservation.
Stephen is also the President-Elect of the International Sea Turtle Society.
