Brendan James
I was working in the mining industry for Bureau Veritas when I started at CQU. Extensive experience in mining and the safety required made me interested in OH&S as a profession.
CQUniversity was my local university, and one of few universities offering an OH&S Degree. Having previously studied an Advanced Certificate with CQU it was an easy decision to take the next step.
My degree enabled me to get a job with the Bechtel APLNG Project as and Industrial Hygienist. I moved to GCG Health, Safety and Hygiene as an Occupational Hygiene Consultant and now I am a Business Partner Occupational Hygiene at Kestrel Coal Resources.Â
I also completed a Masters in Occupational Hygiene and Toxicology at Edith Cowan University (ECU), graduating in 2019. My degree from CQU has been essential to my career, and was required to gain entry to my Masters.
