Alicia has been working as an alcohol and other drug counsellor since 2016. In 2019, she decided to undertake further study to support her clients in their recovery journey.
She chose to study with CQUniversity as it offered a 100% online course that allowed her to balance her lifestyle and two jobs. Before that, Alicia had never studied via distance but found the experience enjoyable. The Graduate Certificate in Positive Psychology provided Alicia with a further understanding of positive psychology, particularly how to implement positive emotions training to create substantial changes in her customers' lives towards recovery.
Currently working for the Salvation Army – Warondi Engage and Link Day Program, Alicia aids her clients to cultivate positive emotional experiences in healthy ways. She also facilitates peer group meetings and provides education group work, specialised individual counselling, and emotional support towards the end of relapse prevention.
