Wadja Wadja woman Sarah-Jayne decided to study law after fleeing domestic and family violence when her son was born in 2012. In May 2021, she was admitted as a lawyer, realising her dream of nearly a decade to help people in crisis.

After completing the Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) pathway program, Sarah-Jayne began her Undergraduate Law degree. In 2020, she completed a work placement at Queensland's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service, growing her determination to help people struggling in the justice system.

Sarah-Jayne hopes that her achievements can be the turning point for her mob and that many generations to come can benefit from her learning journey.
