Matt is the Lead Principal for the Department of Education. He began his career in 2007 as a teacher, working his way from Head of Junior School, Deputy Principal, Principal, to his current role.

After leaving high school, Matt initially decided he never wanted to study again. After 18 months of working, he rediscovered his interest in wanting to become a teacher. CQUniversity made the transition from work back into study easy for him due to the mix of study options available. In his current role, he is part of a team that leads Central Queensland's 208 primary schools, high schools, and Prep - 10/12 schools.

The 'future' orientation of the degree made Matt think forward towards what could be in education, not what is or was.
