Prior to completing a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in 2019, I worked in oil and gas fields in Canada, United Arab Emirates and Australia. Whilst I held prestigious roles with great pay, I was missing out on the satisfaction of working in a career that I was truly passionate about.

Since graduating, I worked with Livingstone Shire Council for four years as a Civil Designer where I picked up foundational drafting and design principles which are invaluable to me. Working with the local council was for me a great experience to gain insight into the workings and processes of local government.

In 2023, I moved on to work with Harrison Infrastructure Group as a Design Engineer / Project Manager based in Rockhampton. Working in the private sector has been a great way to test myself within an organisation who is competing to lead the industry in both ingenuity and productivity. In 2022, I began further study with the Centre of Pavement Engineering Education in the Master of Pavement Technology program. My degree from CQU provided the prerequisite pavement design fundamentals for entry into the course and I still refer back to early learnings from my civil degree.

My degree opened the door for me to explore the diverse world of civil engineering and provided me with the prerequisite knowledge needed to enter into more complex roles. Since graduating, I have found the confidence to push myself much further in my career than I ever thought was possible.
