William Billings
After observing first-hand my father's advocacy skills in court as a long time practising criminal barrister, I was inspired to pursue a career in law. I chose CQU because the online study method with recorded lectures allowed me to study at any time during the week. Additionally, the modular approach to unit selection supported my unpredictable life/ work arrangements which resulted in varying levels of commitment from one term to another.Â
Since completing my Bachelor of Laws in 2020, and before I continued with the required post graduate diploma to become a lawyer, I decided to explore my interests in the wedding and entertainment industries.
I focused on developing my music and stand-up comedy skills and eventually completed a Certificate IV in Celebrancy and was granted status as a Commonwealth Registered Civil Marriage Celebrant in 2022.
Through my CQU studies and after graduation, I worked at Holmesglen Institute as a Legal Instructor for the Diploma of Justice and the Certificate IV in Entrepreneurship. It was during this time that I completed my Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice and was finally admitted as a Lawyer on the roll of The Supreme Court of Victoria in 2023.
I am currently employed as a Lawyer at Midwinters Lawyers, where I complete comprehensive legal research, document reviews and drafting, provide advice and attend court hearings.Â
I've also acted in a number of movies, shows, and product commercials. Blink and you'll miss me though!
