Since graduating with her PhD in Creative Writing from CQUni in 2010, Sandra has had three books published: Sing No Sad Songs (Canterbury University Press, 2011, NZ), The Ash the Well and the Bluebell (Makaro Press, 2019, NZ) and Soul Etchings (Retreat West, 2020, UK). Sandra has also featured in publications for international magazines as well as writing residencies.

Her flash fiction and short stories have been widely published in New Zealand and internationally. They have also placed in several awards, including two nominations for Best Microfiction, two nominations for The Pushcart Prize and two for The Best Small Fictions. Her non-fiction book Sing No Sad Songs formed part of her PhD thesis.

Sandra held a Robert Lord Writers Residency in 2020 and recently completed a book of essays, a short story collection and a second flash fiction collection.
