Brendan Bishop
Brendan Bishop is passionate about growing Indigenous businesses. Brendan travels across Australia through his business - Indigenous Business Builders – which helps Indigenous businesses, entrepreneurs and start-ups grow their opportunities.
Brendan began his career providing electronic security solutions across the Bowen Basin mining industry. Brendan started his first business in 2008 – Alarm Guys – which provides electronic solutions to the residential, commercial and mining sectors. This was the first Indigenous owned and operated business of its kind in Australia and was built up and sold in 2017.
Brendan is a proud Aboriginal man descended from the Kamilaroi people of South-West Queensland. He is heavily involved in his community, and is a board member of Aboriginal Enterprises in Mining, Energy and Exploration Ltd (AEMEE). AEMEE is an incorporated not-for-profit company set up to grow Indigenous businesses in Australia and overseas in mining and allied industries.
In 2019, Brendan facilitated the ‘Pitch Black’ Elevator Pitch workshop in Mackay, to teach participants to promote their business or start-up.
