Marissa Shipley
My Graduate Diploma of Applied Computer played a crucial role in my journey as an Internal Cyber Security consultant and eventual CEO of a cybersecurity company and a software development company.
My studies gave me a solid foundation in Computer Science so that I was equipped with fundamental knowledge in programming, algorithms, data structures, and computer networks. This foundation allowed me to understand the technical aspects of cybersecurity, including threat detection, vulnerability assessment, and secure coding practices. My work addresses compliance standards and access risks, advocating for a proactive approach over mere hope.
In 2014, leveraging my vast experience from roles at PwC, IBM, and SAP, I co-founded CompliantERP, a SAP Silver Partner recognised for expertise in Governance, Risk, and Compliance. CompliantERP delivers specialist tools and services designed to enhance compliance. Building on this success in Australia, I expanded globally in 2022 with CERPASS Software, forming significant partnerships in Europe and the UK, and reinforcing its position as a leader in compliance and security software. CompliantERP has also earned accolades including The Australian Business Awards – SaaS Innovation Winner in 2023 and the Australian Small Business Champion for Information Technology in 2024.
Beyond my entrepreneurial ventures, I joined the Australian Computer Society (ACS) board for the Brisbane chapter in 2022, aiming to reshape the recognition of non-programming ERP skills and broaden the talent pool in the Australian IT industry, focusing on STEM, Women in Technology, and Neurodiversity. My advocacy extends to promoting neurodiversity in the workplace and supporting women through mentorship programs, particularly at the Queensland University of Technology, which I have been actively involved for five years. My leadership not only advances my companies but also influences industry standards and supports emerging professionals, making a marked impact on the IT and technology sectors.
