During my tenure as Lecture for Singapore Polytechnic, a group of my colleagues decided to embark on CQU Professional Doctorate program when it was introduced in Singapore. With approval from Polytechnic as part of our advanced continuing education, three of us enrolled.
I completed my degree from CQU in 2005, and I found that it spearheaded my career to greater heights. My opportunities for new employment broadened and enabled me to explore new areas that I had never thought of. Combining my background in Education with my new qualifications, I was hired to the Singapore Ministry of Defence as Academic Director and Master Trainer for the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) solders for their transition career. I also ventured into many more companies over the years, including a role as the General Manager for the CQU SE Asia Office.
I now work for Lentor Health, researching Dementia. I joined a Nursing Home to help design special activity program to engage the elderly to prevent further decline of dementia. Eventually my expertise expanded to more areas, such as adding Training Director to my portfolio, and becoming Head of Psychosocial Program. I am now responsible for five Nursing Homes and Senior Day Cares centres in Singapore.
My degree added to my credibility and standing in the community and has led to fulfilling career opportunities, including my current role contributing to the engagement of the elderly community in Singapore.
