Councillor Glenn Churchill has been an active resident of the greater Gladstone Region and Central Queensland for 30 years. He has gained extensive experience and wisdom in more than 17 years in Local Government as both a Mayor and Councillor. He previously served 11 years as Mayor/Councillor of Banana Shire Council and protected the community for 26 years as a Queensland Police Officer.

Glenn completed his Management qualifications at CQUni via online studies. He is a member of our Great Alumni program for his leadership roles in his community and strong advocacy for CQU. Cr Churchill strongly believes in working together in harmony with the vital need for continual learning and formal qualifications, valuing the contribution that CQUni provides to the benefit at a regional, national and global level.

Together with his wife Sue and family, Cr Churchill has served the business, sporting, education, tourism and community interests of the region through many different avenues in public life.

He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Managers and Leaders and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

He is a past Director of CQU's Board, and currently long-time Chair of Gladstone Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) Management Committee, Chair of Gladstone Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), Chair of the Gladstone Region Disaster Recovery (Infrastructure), President of Queensland Retired Police Association - Gladstone Region, and member of the international Saiki Sister City Advisory Committee, Gladstone Safe Night Precinct Public Consultative Committee, Diamond Life member of the Queensland Police-Citizens Youth Welfare Association (QPCYWA) and more recently, from 2000 to 2015 spent seven years advocating for the region as CEO of the Gladstone Area Promotion and Development (GAPDL) and an additional seven years as an honorary GAPDL Board Director. Cr Churchill is also a life member and volunteer of various local community-based organisations including as qualified percussion tutor and member of Gladstone Thistle Pipes and Drums.
