Health literacy is the degree to which individuals have the capacity to obtain, process, and understand basic health information and services needed to make decisions about their health. This online Short Course introduces the concept of health literacy and the skills and abilities required to promote and maintain good health.

- Recognise health literacy in a range of different contexts
- Identify health literacy to the social determinants of health
- Identify the population groups most at risk of low health literacy
- Identify those responsible for health promotion, improving health education, and empowering individuals to be more aware of healthy choices and reduce risk.

This course provides Professional Development for health professionals.
Undertaking this course enables students to meet their Continuing Professional Development obligations and industry update requirements in their profession.
