Research is embedded in all things academia. Being able to navigate your way around finding and knowing what is scholarly research is critical for success in higher education. This micro-credential will provide guidelines on how to locate research and how to evaluate their scholarly credibility. You will be introduced to the RAOC framework to determine if researched sources are suitable for academic purposes based on them being relevant, authoritative, objective and current.  As a micro-credential, this course gives you a certificate of completion and a digital badge to display in your profile or share on social media.

This online micro-credential will explore how to approach research and provides guidelines on how to effectively plan your research tasks and locate scholarly sources. This micro-credential will introduce you to the RAOC (Relevance, Authority, Objectivity, Currency) framework to refine your searches and determine if researched sources are suitable for academic purposes.

Students who successfully complete the set of 9 micro-credentials* developed from the unit SKIL40025 Preparation Skills for University, (which forms part of the Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) CL03), may be eligible for credit transfer, pending all other entry requirements to the Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) CL03 are being met, as automatic entry will not apply.
