Leadership Capstone

Part One: Simulation – evaluate your performance and business skills. Make decisions on research and development, marketing, production and finance to see how different business areas interact and effect each other. Topics include shipping costs, tariffs, and fluctuating currency exchange rates. Compete against five computer-controlled competitors for USA, Germany and China market share.

Part Two: Business report – establish your shift to a successful leader via applied research into a chosen business problem or opportunity. This goes towards developing a professional business report showcasing your ability to research and synthesise relevant ideas, theories, models, frameworks and cases to demonstrate your learning.

COURSE STRUCTURE

The MBA (Leadership) is comprised of 11 units: 10 standard and one capstone (equivalent to two standard). Each standard unit is designed to take 144 hours to complete, which equates to 12–18 months of full-time study. You will have up to five years from enrolment to complete the course at your own pace. Choose to spread it out evenly with 6–10 hours per week, do larger sections all at once on weekends or holidays, or anywhere in between – it’s entirely up to you.

After enrolling, you’ll have access to the first 10 units. You can work through these in any order; however we recommend you complete these in a set progression to ensure you gain the foundational knowledge later units will draw from. After successfully completing the first ten units, you’ll gain access to the final capstone unit in which you’ll apply and synthesise your learnings and experience gained throughout the course.

DELIVERY MODE

Perfect for the busy, self-motivated learner, the MBA (Leadership) is hosted entirely online and self-contained, designed for you to access course content on any device with internet access. Unit content is divided into modules which are then broken down into smaller bite-sized learning activities so you’re able to fit study around your commitments and lifestyle. Complete modules on the bus, during your lunch hour, or in the doctor’s waiting room. With no need to buy textbooks or additional content, and everything you need available on the Be Different platform and internet, you can be completing your MBA (Leadership) anywhere.

ASSESSMENT

Similar to a traditional MBA, assessment in the MBA (Leadership) ranges from evaluative self-practice, online tests, case study reviews, reports, and business simulations – the difference is there are no deadlines or due dates. Additional activities are available for those who wish to explore topics further, however aren’t mandatory. You’ll also be invited to the official CQUniversity MBA (Leadership) LinkedIn group, where you can connect with your peers and academics in an informal setting if you choose.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

In line with CQUniversity’s values of inclusiveness and diversity, there are no formal entry requirements for the MBA (Leadership). That said, it is designed for those who have completed an undergraduate qualification or who have equivalent work experience, and will benefit those able to draw upon current and past employment to process concepts and scenarios presented in the course. You will be required to declare you consider yourself to be suitably qualified for the course before enrolling.

The MBA (Leadership) is highly affordable when compared to traditional MBA courses, with both upfront and pay-as-you-go options. Payment is required upfront to access the course and is taken through the Be Different platform via credit card.

However, if you enrol and then decide to exit the course, you’ll need to do so within 30 days in order to receive a refund. After this point, refunds are not available unless exceptional circumstances apply.

Everyone learns differently. Some enjoy attending lectures in person and interacting with their peers, while others are highly independent, preferring to access content online where possible. The MBA (Leadership) is designed for the latter: self-motivated and independent learners, who require little to no support in the form of lecturer or teaching staff contact. It’s part of the course’s lean nature and affordability. That said, you will have access to 10 hours of academic support (nearly one hour per unit) included in the course, with the option to pay for additional hours if and when you need them.
