Early Childhood Specialisation

Studying a Certificate II in Community Services will provide a pathway to future study for workforce entry as an Educator in the Early Childhood Sector and Teacher Aide in Education. At this level, work takes place under direct, regular supervision within clearly defined guidelines. Certificate II in Community Services is embedded into our Certificate III and Diploma qualifications for Early Childhood Education and Care as well as other pathways to qualifications within other CQUniversity Schools. Completion of 9 units within the Certificate II of which 6 will be directly credited towards the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.

Community Services specialisation

Studying a Certificate II in Community Services will provide a pathway to future study for workforce entry as a Community Service Worker. At this level, work takes place under direct, regular supervision within clearly defined guidelines. Certificate II in Community Services is embedded into our Certificate III, IV and Diploma qualifications for Community Services as well as other pathways to qualifications within other CQUniversity Schools.  With the addition of two (2) aged care units, students will also have the opportunity for future study into Certificate III Individual Support.

Zoom sessions are provided weekly, excluding Queensland School Holiday periods. Students are able to access a teacher during these times to assist and guide them with their studies.

To complete this course, students are required to undertake vocational placement and complete a minimum of 100 hours.

This course has no residential schools.

A minimum of 100 hours Vocational Placement is required to be completed for this qualification and students to submit a logbook as evidence of attendance for Early Childhood Specialisation.

No Vocational Placement is required to be completed for the Community Services Specialisation

 

Requirements

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement

The COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory to be eligible to attend a WIL placement for this course. Students will be required to provide evidence of having completed a COVID-19 vaccination schedule by the closing date prior to a WIL placement. The vaccine received must be a vaccine approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) of Australia.


CQUniversity requires:

  • completion of the bksb (Basic Key Skills Builder) online literacy and numeracy assessment prior to enrolment, unless the student has completed an equal or higher-level course.

Early Childhood Specialisation

To complete this course, students are required to undertake vocational placement and complete a minimum of 100 hours. 

Ability to obtain a Suitability Card (Blue Card)

 

COVID 19 vaccination may be required for some services.

Access to a computer, internet, and intermediate computer skills required.

Community Services specialisation

There are no other entry requirements for this course, however, all students are required to collect and complete mandatory checks as per CQUniversity policy in preparation for the compulsory vocational placement.   These mandatory vocational placement requirements ensure patient and student safety.
