SITSS00051 - Food Safety Supervision Skill Set
At a glanceUnder the Food Act 2006, every licensable food business Queensland requires an accredited Food Safety Supervisor to be nominated and registered on their Food Safety Plan. This short course will equip individuals with skills in hygienic practices and handling food safely during the storage, preparation, display, service and disposal of food. This short course is extremely advantageous to those already working or wanting to enter the hospitality industry within areas such as cafes, kiosks, market stalls, catering area of hospitals, nursing homes and food outlets. Students undertaking this course will study the accredited units SITXFSA001 - Use hygienic practices for food safety and SITXFSA002 - Participate in safe food handling practices.

Student Outcomes, Career Opportunities and Occupations1. Students will receive a Result of Assessment within 21 days of completion of each unit/module or within 21 days of the ‘close of study’ date. 2. Students who successfully complete all required units/modules will receive their qualification and an Academic Statement itemising all units/modules successfully completed. 3. Following receipt of written advice from the student (or teacher) that the student does not intend to complete the full course, the student will be issued with a Statement of Attainment listing all units/modules successfully completed.
Career Opportunities exist as a Food Safety Supervisor. Upon successful completion of this accredited skill set, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units SITXFSA001 - Use hygienic practices for food safety and SITXFSA002 - Participate in safe food handling practices
Entry RequirementsThere are no entry requirements.
This course is available online with teaching support available through email and telephone. Online students require self-motivation for online study.
There are nine course intakes for 2018, available monthly from February to October.
