Overview

The severe end of Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) is examined in this online micro-credential. It looks at the nature and the extent of different forms of domestic homicide, and provides Australian examples illustrating the individual and situational circumstances of domestic homicide. The role of risk assessment tools and how they can be used in practice to reduce the risk of fatal outcomes is also investigated.

This online micro-credential provides practical tools for practitioners working with vulnerable victims and survivors of Domestic and Family Violence. It will provide expert knowledge on the dangers of separation and how to collaborate with women to reduce the risk of domestic homicide. The micro-credential will examine numerous danger assessment tools that can be used in professional practice.

This micro-credential is introductory in nature. Completing a comprehensive appraisal of the risks posed to victims of domestic and family violence requires detailed and specialist training. Completion of this introductory course does not provide that level of training. Participants are reminded that risk assessment is not a static event: it is a continuing and complex process. Where relevant, participants are also reminded to access the risk assessment tools and processes of their organisation before undertaking a domestic and family violence risk assessment.

This is a non-creditable micro-credential which is awarded a digital badge and Certificate of Completion which can be shared to your social networks and displayed in your professional portfolio.

Our micro-credentials are aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
