Entry requirements

All applications to study with CQUniversity are assessed in accordance with the Admission to CQUniversity Courses Policy and Procedure.  Before you apply, be sure to check the ‘Entry Requirements’ section on the individual course page to determine your eligibility.

During the application process, you will be asked to nominate if you are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander origin. If you indicate this Indigenous status, the Office of Indigenous Engagement will be advised, so that they can make contact with you to make you aware of the support you will receive as an indigenous student with CQUniversity.

Domestic applicants who are relying on qualifications gained overseas to meet course entry requirements must have that qualification validated for it to be used in the assessment process. Overseas qualification must be deemed by the Australian Education International Office of Overseas Recognition (AEI_NOOSR) to be equivalent to Australian qualifications in order to be considered by a Tertiary Admissions Centre and CQUniversity.

CQUniversity is a member of the Elite Athlete Friendly University Network (EAFUN). Under this arrangement, CQUniversity students who are recognised as elite athletes, coaches or performers are provided with the assistance they need at university, so they can meet their educational, sporting and performance commitments. This means that, where possible, we will provide you with flexible arrangements for study, assessment and/or attendance, along with other support, to assist you, as an elite student athlete, coach or performer to achieve your sporting, performance and education goals. CQUniversity does not apply adjustments to an applicant's selection rank for elite athlete, coach or performer status.

You can find out more information and check eligibility criteria, by viewing our Elite Athlete, Coach and Performer Policy.

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Admission Pathway - CM17 Bachelor of Medical Science (Pathway to Medicine)

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants may choose to apply for CM17 Bachelor of Medical Science (Pathway to Medicine) via the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Admission pathway. This admission pathway requires you to complete year 12 (must be the first attempt in the year of application) and progress through a number of steps.

1. QTAC Application

You will need to complete a QTAC application and supply your resume, a personal statement and confirmation of your Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status. You will also need to provide a copy of your Year 11 results. We encourage all applicants to complete the recommended study to be well-prepared to succeed in the course.

Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Identity

At CQU, we have adopted a protocol that outlines a process for confirming Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural identity and what documentation is acceptable to verify your identity. Please search for the Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander or First Nations Identity Protocol in our policy library for more detailed information.

2. Semi-Structured Interview

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a semi-structured interview with CQU’s Office of Indigenous Engagement (OIE) team, where you will discuss your application in more detail.

3. Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs)

Eligible applicants will be invited to progress to the next stage of the selection process and participate in the MMIs.

MMIs are designed to provide you with opportunities to demonstrate skills and qualities such as verbal communication, adaptability, and empathy. The MMIs involve a circuit of interview stations and will take place online.
