Databases for Alumni

The first time you want to access these resources you will need to complete the Application for e-Database Access form and send it to the Alumni Relations Team. You'll find a link to the form in the "Keep updated with news and research in your field" section of the Alumni Benefits page. 

Databases Terms of Use

Access to databases and online resources is limited and is subject to change at any time. 

The library’s online resources such as databases, e-books and e-journals are covered by licenses which specify the conditions under which the licensed material can be used. To access Library online resources, you must agree to these conditions. They may not be used for commercial purposes, or for paid or unpaid work on behalf of an organisation other than CQUniversity. 

Bulk, excessive, or automated downloading of material, supplying licensed material to non-authorised users (including posting to websites), and actions in breach of the Copyright Act 1968, are not permitted. 

Databases Available

ASME Journals - American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) Transaction Journals and Applied Mechanics Reviews from 2000 to the present. 

AustLit - Biographical, bibliographic, critical, and production information about Australian writers, writing and publishing; includes performance works (theatre, film, television, radio). Includes BlackWords, focusing on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander literary cultures and traditions. 

Britannica Academic -This comprehensive academic resource includes encyclopedia articles, data and statistics, original sources, BBC and New York Times news feeds, videos, biographies, Merriam-Webster dictionary and thesaurus, and an interactive atlas. 

CSIRO Journals - Full-text CSIRO journals collection, covering a broad range of research by Australian and international scientists. 

Rock's Backpages  - Articles, interviews and reviews from the world's best music writers and critics, from the late 1950s to the present day. 

SAGE Journals Online - Multidisciplinary database providing full-text access to a wide range of scholarly journals. 

Open Access Resources

Open Access resources are free for everyone to read. 

From the Databases Tab on Library Search, you can access Databases Search. Using the left side menu open “Type of Resource” and look for “Open Access and Free”. This list contains a wide range of free databases with Australian and international resources.
