Overview
The Bachelor of Theatre at CQUniversity has a carefully designed and performance-integrated structure that will enrich your learning experience. Choose to major in Drama, Music Theatre or Technical Theatre to suit your area of interest and career goals.
Within a creative and supportive environment of performance-based training, you will have the opportunity to work in a number of full-scale productions in technical and creative roles.
On completion, you will be a highly skilled and motivated creative performer who is ready for the workplace.
You will develop a wide range of skills, all of which will be contextualised by studies in dramatic literature, theatre history and drama theory.
During your education and training, you will develop advanced skills in problem-solving and creative, self-regulated and critical thinking, as well as enhance your singing and voice, acting, dance and movement skills. In addition, you will explore imagination and performance techniques and styles and cover production-related areas, such as lighting, sound and stage management.
To gain entry to this course you will be required to audition.

Drama major
Completing a Drama major will provide you with extensive studies and training in the craft of acting and allow you to acquire skills in voice and movement.
Music Theatre major
The Music Theatre major has a strong practical focus and offers you intensive technical training in singing, dancing and acting, which will equip you as a professionally acknowledged 'triple threat' performer.
Technical Theatre major
A major in Technical Theatre may be suitable if you are keen to work in the creative and performing arts within a production capacity. You will develop skills in stagecraft, stage and production management, lighting, sound and technical direction.
Discovering Theatre minor
Explore the origins of theatre, musical theatre, Australian drama and the evolution of comedy within theatre in this minor.
Liberal Arts minor
This minor has been designed to support credit, articulation agreements and transition arrangements. Please contact Course Advice for further information.
Literary Studies minor
Explore the complexities and delicacies of a variety of literary genres. Plus, you will develop analytical skills and new perspectives to enhance your own literary practices.
Video Production minor
Using industry-standard software and tools, you'll develop skills in digital video production, screenwriting, narrative film-making, video editing and post-production.
World History minor
This minor introduces you to some world histories, including ancient, medieval, modern and twentieth-century eras.
Writing Stories minor
Calling all storytellers, this minor helps you to develop and refine your skills in writing engaging works for different audiences and markets.

Students work with industry mentors and staff in a simulated theatre company environment. Technical and performance skills and knowledge are embedded in the learning and teaching elements of this unit. A scholarship can help with the costs involved with living on campus, laptops and technology, childcare, study and living expenses, travel, and more.
You may be eligible for a 25% international scholarship funded by the University.
