Abstract:

Communities of Practice – How and Why Engage?  CQUniversity aims to be recognised as Australia’s most Engaged University and Communities of Practice provide the context for both academic and professional staff to build engaged communities, sharing and growing knowledge around learning and teaching-related issues.

How to engage: ideas for starting and sustaining Communities of Practice will be presented, including a robust framework adapted from CoP theory for the Higher Education context and findings from the 2012 OLT leadership project. Why engage: types of engagement and the impact of engagement on individuals and the institution will also be explored.
