YourTutor

We understand our students lead busy lives, juggling work and study commitments, as well as family and personal ventures, and occasionally you need academic assistance after business hours. That’s why CQUniversity has introduced after-hours academic assistance with the YourTutor service.

YourTutor is personalised, online help from an exclusively trained network of tutors, available free for all CQUni students. YourTutor gives you access to academic support when you don’t have access to your lecturer or on-campus academic assistance.

The service is available from Moodle. You will find YourTutor in the Support block of each Moodle unit.

How does the service work?

You can choose to drop off a file 24/7 and collect constructive general academic literacy feedback on structure, grammar, punctuation, spelling and referencing within 24 hours.

Alternatively, the online tutors are available 5pm – midnight, Sunday to Friday.  Connect in real-time to expert tutors, waiting online to help you get ‘unstuck’.  YourTutor provides one-to-one chat, covering subjects like Essay Writing, Study Skills, Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry/Biology Accounting, Statistics, Micro/Macroeconomics and more.

How does this fit with the ALC?

CQUniversity have adopted YourTutor in addition to the advice provided by the Academic Learning Centre (ALC). The ALC will remain available from 8am-5pm Monday to Friday (or by appointment)

The ALC provides information, advice and resources related to the academic communication (e.g. writing, note making and referencing), mathematics, science, and computing requirements needed to study at CQUniversity.  The ALC offers personalised consultations with an advisor on campus or on line by phone, Zoom, or via an online submission service. The ALC also offers generic group sessions, course specific workshops, drop in centres, print and online resources.

View all ALC resources and contact options at www.cqu.edu.au/alc.
