CQUniversity has many study locations across our national footprint. Each town and city has its own transport options ranging from buses and taxis to rail and Uber.
Transport Concession
If you are a full-time internal student you may be eligible for public transport concession fares within your state of residence.
Please ensure that after being granted concession you must carry your CQUniversity Student ID Card with you while travelling on public transport.
Please see below for specific eligibility information and how to apply for each state.
South East Queensland
CQUniversity students can apply for a concession for travel on the TransLink public transport network or approved regional services via the TransLink website after purchasing a ‘Go Card’.
You can apply for concession fares if you meet all of the following criteria:
- Resides in Queensland
- A full-time student enrolled in and attending a course on an internal basis

Transport concession is applied for online after registering your ‘Go Card’. To apply for the transport concession, complete the TransLink online application process.
Regional Queensland
CQUniversity students can apply for a concession for travel on the TransLink public transport network or approved regional services.
You can apply for concession fares if you meet all the following criteria
- Resides in Queensland
- A full-time student enrolled in and attending a course on an internal basis
Once you have a current student ID Card you are required to bring in your Concession Sticker Application Form to the campus who will apply a regional concession sticker to your ID Card if eligible.
CQUniversity students can apply for a Concession for travel on the Public Transport Victoria (PTV) network.
You can apply for Concession ​fares if you meet all the following criteria
- Resides in Victoria
- Studying an undergraduate course
- is an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia
- Enrolled full-time on campus

Students are to bring in their PTV tertiary Student ID application form to the campus to stamp and return it to a PTV office.
CQUniversity students can apply for a concession for travel on the Transport NSW public transport network using a concession Opal Card.
You can apply for concession fares if you meet all the following criteria
- Resides in New South Wales
- is an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia
- Enrolled full-time on an internal basis

Students are to bring in their NSW Tertiary Student Concession Application Form to the campus who will submit it on behalf of the student. You will receive your new Opal Card to your mailing address (within 5 to 10 business days) or your existing card will be renewed.
CQUniversity students can apply for a concession for travel on the TransPerth network.
You can apply for a concession fares if you meet all the following criteria
- Resides in Western Australia
- Enrolled full-time on an internal basis
