What to Expect at Orientation

Orientation is all about giving you the essential information you need to be a successful student.

Orientation TV (OTV) and All About Uni Workshops will be delivered online in an engaging, informative format. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions, answer polls, have your say, and chat with your fellow students and CQUniversity staff in real-time. We encourage you to ask questions as you are watching. No question is a silly question.

How to Prepare

Virtual events

To prepare for virtual events, ensure your area is functional, preferably at a desk with a comfortable chair. To get the most out of the experience you will need a laptop, computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection so you can access Zoom.

All online sessions will be hosted using the video conferencing software, Zoom. We recommend checking out our Getting Started with Zoom resources prior to Orientation for advice on joining a session, setting up basic functions, and more. To make sure you’re prepared for online sessions, join a test session to test your camera, microphone, and sound settings. If you require technical assistance, contact us by calling 13 27 86 or emailing tasac@cqu.edu.au.

Other useful things to have on hand include your Student ID number, pens, highlighters, a notepad, water bottle, and snacks to keep you going. Keep these handy so you don’t have to miss anything!

Campus Experience Events

Campus Experience events provide an opportunity to network and connect with fellow students and CQUniversity staff. Depending on your location, these sessions may include networking activities, games, campus tours, and market stalls.

You do not need to bring anything with you.

If you will be attending a Campus Experience event, please be reminded that CQU is a smoke-free university. All staff, students, and visitors to our campuses are asked to comply with the smoke-free policy by not smoking anywhere on university grounds.

If you have a disability or medical condition and require assistance with adjustments or access to Orientation, please contact us at accessibility@cqu.edu.au or by calling 13 27 86.
