Orientation at CQUniversity involves completing an online, introductory Moodle course, as well as attending one of our Orientation events before term begins.
Attending an Orientation event is compulsory for international students. Domestic students have the choice to attend or simply complete the online modules. It’s strongly recommended that all students do both.
If you're a new student, we encourage you to join us at an Orientation event where you will:
- Find out about the facilities and support staff available to assist you throughout your study journey.
- Meet and network with other new students from your location.
- Connect with academic staff from your location or study area, either in person or via video conference.
Feedback from past students has told us that attending an Orientation event is the single most valuable thing you can do to prepare for study.
Orientation events for Term 1 2017 will be held between Monday, 27 February 2017 - Friday, 3 March 2017 across a variety of campus locations. All new, on-campus and distance students are invited to join us.
If you wish to attend Orientation, it's compulsory to RSVP by completing the online registration form. Please also keep an eye on your student email for updates.
Before you review your Orientation schedule, please familiarise yourself with your School. It is important that you carefully check the details including times and locations on your schedule. Events at some locations may be split by School with attendance on different days and at different campuses.
Orientation events will be held at the following locations:
- Mackay Music & Theatre specific schedule
- Rockhampton (International students) Please note, international students must attend both the international specific and regular Orientation events at Rockhampton campus.
- Bachelor of Nursing specific schedule - Nursing Orientation is being held on the specified campuses only, as these are the locations of on-campus offerings for Term 1 2017. These campuses are also where our nursing facilities and staff are located. Distance students will be able to visit our Nursing Central Moodle web page and watch the recording of each session post-event.
All Orientation schedules are subject to change and updated information will be provided in the lead up to each event.
If you have a laptop, it would be useful to bring it to Orientation. You should also bring your Student ID card. If you don't have a Student ID card, please bring along the student number found on your Offer Letter.
If you have a disability or medical condition, and require assistance with adjustments or access to Orientation, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 13 27 86.
