Deferment

To defer your course means that you have decided that you wish to delay the commencement of your course. Deferment of your course will only be granted for a maximum period of one year. Applicants requesting deferment must still meet the conditions of their offer no later than the Census date indicated on their letter of offer.

Prior to submitting your application to defer your course, if you are currently enrolled in units, you will need to withdraw from all units prior to submitting the Defer Your Course eForm. Please note that if Census Date for the term has passed, you will incur both academic and financial penalties. Please refer to the Calendar of Principal Dates to confirm the Census date each term.

Principal's Recommendation Scheme (Pilot Program): Admission into any CQUniversity course through the Principal's Recommendation Scheme (Pilot Program) does not allow deferral of admission. If you cannot commence your course based on your letter of offer, then you are invited to apply for admission at a later date through the usual channels.

Domestic students

Domestic students should complete and submit the Defer Your Course – New Students eForm.

International students

International students must contact the International Admissions Team at international-admissions@cqu.edu.au to defer an offer.

For further information in relation to deferment of your course, please contact the Student Advice Team on 13 CQUni (13 27 86).
