Wayne is a successful theatre, film and television actor, writer and director. He is a champion of the Australia film and performance industry. As an Indigenous performer, writer and director, he is one of the leaders in his field, bringing Indigenous stories and issues to mainstream Australia and international audiences.
Originally graduating with a Bachelor of Business in 1994; Wayne was conferred an Honorary Doctor of the Arts by CQUniversity in 2013.
Wayne directed the 2012 Australian movie “The Sapphires”, which premiered at Cannes and was the highest grossing Australian film of the year. It won 11 AACTA awards, including Best Film and Best Director. He has also written and directed many short films and television episodes, as well as acting for stage and screen.
Wayne is one of the lead actors on the Logie award-winning show Redfern Now, as well as Directing Clever Man, an innovative six-part futuristic drama for ABC-TV and Sundance Television starring Game of Thrones Iain Glen, Frances O’Connor and Deborah Mailman.
His skills behind and in front of the camera and on stage have seen him receive critical and popular acclaim for his projects, and win numerous awards in his field. Not only a high achiever and passionate communicator in his own right, Wayne is also an enthusiastic Mentor and supporter of future creators.
