Graduation Ceremony Schedules

Dates and times of ceremonies may be subject to change without notice and this page will be updated with any amendments as soon as possible. The University, its agents and employees are not liable for any loss or damage arising directly or indirectly from the possession, publication, use of or reliance on information obtained from this document. It is provided in good faith without express or implied warranty. Graduates are advised to complete Graduation Registration for ceremony attendance as soon as possible after being conferred. Please note that you cannot complete the Graduation Registration until you have been conferred with your degree.

2021 Confer Dates:

  • Term 3 2020 – 22 March 2021
  • Term 1 2021 – 26 July 2021
  • Term 2 2021 – 22 November 2021

Please be aware of the conferral dates as above and ensure you register for the graduation ceremony of your choosing prior to the registration closure date.

For more information regarding the conferral of your degree, please contact the Course Advice Team. The University reserves the right to close registrations for specific ceremonies when venue capacity is reached.

If you are unable to attend one of the listed ceremonies below, or require access to your academic documents prior to attending a ceremony, you can access digital copies of certified academic documents through the secure My eQuals platform.

IMPORTANT NOTE: In order for our graduation ceremonies to take place the university needs to follow strict COVID-19 guidelines to meet government requirements and to provide a COVID Safe event, therefore we have implemented some important measures. Please ensure you take note of any travel restrictions, travellers from interstate will need to obtain the correct border passes where required. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause however the health and safety of our graduates, staff and the community are the university’s priority. Due to capacity restrictions ceremonies at some locations will be limited, therefore we urge you to register as soon as possible, no late registrations will be accepted. Please note that the ceremonies below are subject to change depending on how the COVID-19 pandemic continues to unfold. If you plan to attend a ceremony, we encourage you to seek the appropriate travel insurance in the event the graduation is cancelled due to restrictions being enforced.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Conferral Date is the date on which you are officially conferred with your award. This date will be printed onto your testamur (certificate) and academic history and is the date when you are officially recognised as a CQUniversity graduate.

You cannot register for graduation until you have been conferred with your degree. Conferral dates are also published in the Key Dates Calendar.

For any enquiries relating to the conferral of your degree, please contact the Course Advice team.

Access the Support view, Graduation section in MyCQU and follow the prompts to complete the Graduation Registration. If you have forgotten your password or you are having difficulties accessing MyCQU, you will need to speak with the IT Helpdesk and they will reset your password for you or assist in resolving your issues. The contact number is 1300 666 620. Please email the Awards and Results Team at aar@cqu.edu.au and include which graduation ceremony you would like to attend, along with your head circumference and height in centimetres.

With your graduation registration fee, you automatically receive two complimentary guest tickets (you as a graduate do not require a ticket). Due to COVID-19, all venues are required to meet strict capacity and social distancing requirements and therefore we are unable to advise if additional tickets will be for sale until after registrations for the ceremony have closed. Advice on additional tickets will be included in your Student Information sheet emails to registered students up to a week before the ceremony.

The Graduation Registration fee is $160.00. This fee includes your attendance to the ceremony, the hire of your academic regalia, your mortarboard (hat) which we gift to you to keep and two complimentary guest tickets (you as a graduate do not require a ticket). If you are a PhD graduate the fee includes your attendance to the ceremony, hire of your academic regalia including gown, bonnet and hood links (you are gifted your hood links to keep) and two complimentary guest tickets (as a PhD graduate, you do not require a ticket). This registration fee is a standard fee for all graduates and no reductions to this fee will be made, irrespective of regalia you may already own. If you identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, you may be able eligible for funding to assist with paying your graduation registration fee. CQUniversity will certify and upload a digital version of your testamur and academic transcript to My eQuals, a secure online platform. You can then use My eQuals to share these documents with anyone you choose, including employers, universities and other parties.

Graduates from 2019 onwards will automatically receive a digital version of their testamur or academic transcript, for further information relating to academic awards please contact aar@cqu.edu.au.
