Graduation Ceremony Schedules

Dates and times of ceremonies may be subject to change without notice and this document will be updated with any amendments as soon as possible. The University, its agents and employees are not liable for any loss or damage arising directly or indirectly from the possession, publication, use of or reliance on information obtained from this document. It is provided in good faith without express or implied warranty. Graduates are advised to complete Graduation Registration for ceremony attendance as soon as possible after being conferred. Please note that you cannot complete the Graduation Registration until you have been conferred with your degree.

2020 Confer Dates:

  • Term 3 2019 – 23 March 2020
  • Term 1 2020 – 27 July 2020
  • Term 2 2020 – 23 November 2020

Please be aware of the conferral dates as above and ensure you register for the graduation ceremony of your choosing prior to the registration closure date.

For more information regarding the conferral of your degree, please contact the Course Advice Team. The University reserves the right to close registrations for specific ceremonies when venue capacity is reached.

If you are unable to attend one of the listed ceremonies below, or require access to your academic documents prior to attending a ceremony, you can access digital copies of certified academic documents through the secure My eQuals platform.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We are excited to announce that the Mackay, Townsville, Cairns and Bundaberg Graduation ceremonies have been rescheduled. In order for these ceremonies to take place the university needs to follow strict COVID-19 guidelines, this means that only students who permanently live in the ceremony region will be able to attend (If you are unsure that your region is in the included area please email the Events and Graduation Team at Events@cqu.edu.au). We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause however the health and safety of our graduates, staff and the community are the university’s priority. Please note that at this stage, we plan to host ceremonies in Brisbane, Melbourne, Rockhampton and Sydney in December, however this is subject to change depending on how the COVID-19 pandemic continues to unfold.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Conferral Date is the date on which you are officially conferred with your award. This date will be printed onto your testamur (certificate) and academic history and is the date when you are officially recognised as a CQUniversity graduate.

You cannot register for graduation until you have been conferred with your degree. Conferral dates are also published in the Key Dates Calendar.

For any enquiries relating to the conferral of your degree, please contact the Course Advice team.

Access the "My Graduation" tile in MyCentre and follow the prompts to complete the Graduation Registration. If you have forgotten your password or you are having difficulties accessing MyCentre, you will need to speak with the IT Helpdesk and they will reset your password for you or assist in resolving your issues. The contact number is 1300 666 620. If you are a VET student you will need to be registered manually. Please email the Awards and Results Team at aar@cqu.edu.au and include which graduation ceremony you would like to attend, along with your head circumference and height in centimetres.

Graduates may attend a Graduation Ceremony that occurs on a date after the end of the relevant GEP. A condition of attendance at a CQUniversity Graduation Ceremony is that studies must have been completed in accordance with the relevant timelines that apply to each respective ceremony. Other restrictions may apply to some ceremonies. CQUniversity graduates are permitted to attend a ceremony at any of the locations we host.

With your graduation registration fee, you automatically receive two complimentary guest tickets (you as a graduate do not require a ticket). Due to COVID-19, all venues are required to meet strict capacity and social distancing requirements and therefore no further additional tickets will be available for purchase.

To attend a Graduation Ceremony, the Graduation Registration fee is $160.00. This fee includes your attendance to the ceremony, the hire of your academic regalia, your mortarboard (hat) which we gift to you to keep and two complimentary guest tickets (you as a graduate do not require a ticket). This registration fee is a standard fee for all graduates. No reductions to this fee will be made, irrespective of regalia you may already own.

CQUniversity will certify and upload a digital version of your testamur and academic transcript to My eQuals, a secure online platform. You can then use My eQuals to share these documents with anyone you choose, including employers, universities and other parties.

Graduates from 2019 onwards will automatically receive a digital version of their testamur or academic transcript, for further information relating to academic awards please contact aar@cqu.edu.au.
