Distance education

Distance education

At CQUniversity you have the opportunity to study courses by distance education, on-campus or a combination of both. CQUniversity is a leading distance education provider in Australia and is a pioneer in the field as one of the first Australian universities to offer flexible, mixed-mode study.

Distance education gives you the flexibility to study a course without needing to visit a campus. As a distance education student you study the course content through a number of means including the use of online discussion forums, electronic library resources, by contacting lecturers, and receiving all study materials online. Distance education courses at CQUniversity can be studied from anywhere in Australia.

Residential Schools

If you choose to study by distance education, you may be required to attend a residential school. Residential schools involve a period of time that distance education students must spend on campus. Not all units have residential schools, however it is important to note those that do as these schools are generally classed as compulsory and must be attended to fulfil the unit requirements.

Residential schools are an important part of the courses offered at CQUniversity allowing you to network with lecturers, students and industry specialists, whilst getting hands-on, practical work experience in your chosen field of study.

The timetable of residential schools that are attached to units offered at CQUniversity are provided in the CQUniversity Handbook.

Connecting Distance Students

CQUniversity has a private, safe social network aimed at taking the distance out of distance education for students studying online. UCROO is a secure platform for you to connect with other students, find study groups or student mentors, find second hand textbooks or access a wide range of study and support services offered by the University.

Available online or via the free app, UCROO is the meeting of the study hall and the student lounge, meaning you can take the official CQUniversity student social network with you wherever you go.

If you have recently started at CQUniversity and are looking for hints and tips, visit the UCROO page on the Student Portal (sign-in required).
