Let's Back Central Queensland
The skills of tomorrow have never been more important, especially in regional Queensland. Rockhampton and the wider Central Queensland community needs an investment in future-proofing local skills training to support the region’s workforce needs over the next decade and beyond.
Ahead of the October 2020 Queensland state election, CQUniversity is calling on all parties to commit to funding a new Central Queensland TAFE Centre of Excellence based in Rockhampton, should they be elected to government. An election commitment of $49.8 million to build the Centre of Excellence will ensure Central Queensland has the skills training facilities needed to train the next generation of skilled tradespeople. Once complete, the Centre of Excellence will deliver some of the best TAFE training facilities in Australia – something that is needed to drive our workforces and support local industries.
A $49.8 million landmark project like this will also provide significant economic stimulus for the region, supporting over 400 jobs during construction and almost 440 jobs in the long-term, contributing $53 million per year to the Central Queensland economy.
Central Queensland helps to power the State and national economies and our community deserves to have the facilities it needs, so that local people can acquire the skills they need to improve their livelihoods and power our industries.
