Resources for the Community
CQUniversity welcomes the community onto its campuses and encourages you to use your local campus facilities and our expertise. Please see below some of the ways you can benefit from your local university as a community member.
Access to our campus venues
CQUniversity lecture theatres, meeting rooms, tutorial rooms and University grounds are available for use by the community on request.
Our lecture theatres are modern and well equipped and range in capacity from 20 to 488 people. Tutorial Rooms and lecture theatres, meeting rooms and courtyards should be booked directly with our timetabling department contact (07) 4923 2880 or email timetabling-admin@cqu.edu.au for enquiries and more information. Booking of venues and facilities may incur a cost.
Access Grid
The Access Grid is an ensemble of resources and technology which provides a virtual collaboration tool. Access Grid can be used as an advanced type of video conferencing facility that allows participants from multiple locations on the Internet to interact in real time. Access Grid facilities are located in Bundaberg, Gladstone and Rockhampton, and another under construction in Mackay. For external bookings, please contact Teaching Technology Support on (07) 4923 2666 or email teachingtechnology@cqu.edu.au.
The CQUniversity Access Grids can be used by Academics, Researchers, Post Graduate Students and Industry.
Gym and sporting facilities
The Rockhampton Campus boasts a wide selection of sporting facilities that are used by staff, students and community sporting groups. These include:
- 25m heated outdoor swimming pool
- Athletics track
- Baseball diamond
- Tennis courts
- Rugby fields
- Soccer field
- Cricket nets
- Indoor basketball courts
- Netball courts
- Well equipped gym including classes.

Sporting associations that are affiliated with the Student Association may also receive some additional benefits - contact the student association to find out more on association-sport@cqu.edu.au.
CQUniversity libraries
CQUniversity welcomes community members into our libraries, we offer a range of services in addition to lending books, such as photocopying, search the Morning Bulletin Index, Journals and newspapers.

The library uses volunteers for specific projects or to provide background assistance in certain areas, contact the library for more information - see the policy for more information.
CQUniversity collections
CQUniversity holds several collections of items relating to the history of the University and the Central Queensland region.
Guest speakers
CQUniversity has a range of academic experts who are actively involved in research on a variety of topics as diverse as domestic violence, railway engineering, weed management, popular culture, sports fitness testing and many other topics.
CQUniversity is able to support your community event providing guest speakers, dignitaries to present awards, judges for competitions, seminar speakers etc.
