Hospitality students Jasmine Rout and Simon Roe will put their skills to the test at a unique Martini Sampler Session at the Willby's Training Restaurant at CQUniversity's Rockhampton City campus on 24 March.

Shaken not stirred; dirty or dry?

These will be the questions Simon Roe, Jasmine Rout and other CQUniversity Hospitality students will more than likely ask if you attend the unique Martini Sampler Session at the Willby’s Training Restaurant next week.

Simon and Jasmine are very excited about the event, which will be hosted by Nathan Ramm with food and drink prepared and served by the Hospitality teachers and students.

“I know what it’s like to be on the other side of the bar, but now it will be my turn to serve them,” Simon said.

“It’s exciting – I think it’s going to be a lot of fun,” Jasmine said.

Simon, who made a career change after many decades working in road construction and engineering to take up Hospitality, said he was looking forward to putting his skills to the test.

“I chose to study hospitality as I am keen on one day setting up a farm where I grow produce for my own restaurant,” he said.Jasmine said she knew she wanted to work in hospitality when she did a course in high school. She now works in a pub in Keppel Sands.

“I definitely enjoy it. I’m headed off to university soon and I hope to use my skills to get a part-time or casual job in the industry,” she said.

The martini sampler session will be held at the Willby’s Training Restaurant at the CQUniversity Rockhampton City Campus from 6-8pm on Friday 24 March. The cost is $65 per person and includes five classic martini’s, and five courses of canapes. To book, visit https://www.outix.net/tickets/event/willbysmartini*
