At a glance

This one hour short course is designed to provide health professionals with knowledge regarding the safe support and assistance of medications for clients in the Community Care environment.  The course provides an overview on medication forms, routes, the six 'rights' of medication and delivery of selected medications.

Please note that this course does not provide endorsement to administer medication.

Course Summary

Upon completion of this course you will:

  • identify the common forms of self-administering medications and medication routes.
  • recall the “Six Rights” of medication and the essential parts of a drug order.
  • identify what medication support or assistance means in the context of community care workers.
  • describe the process of assisting safely with the client’s medication.
