Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP)
AMEP provides up to 510 hours of free English language tuition to eligible migrants from the skilled, family and humanitarian visa streams, to help them learn basic English to assist with their settlement in Australia.
To be eligible for the AMEP you must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- You have been granted an eligible migration visa to Australia. Please register within six months of receipt of your visa letter.
- You have a family, skilled, humanitarian, spousal or approved temporary visa. Click here for the list of approved temporary visas.
- not a full-time student
- You cannot speak/read/write English or need to improve your English.
- You are aged over 18. Some migrant youths aged 15-17 may also be eligible.
The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education and Training. In Queensland, the AMEP is delivered through TAFE Queensland. The AMEP is provided by CQUniversity on behalf of TAFE Queensland in Rockhampton, Mackay, Gladstone, Emerald and Biloela.
