Career opportunities

The Project Management Institute (PMI) estimates that one-fifth of the world's gross domestic product is spent on projects and a huge demand exists globally for skilled project managers. After completing this course you will have enhanced opportunities for employment as a project supervisor, project manager or project director in a wide range of industries.

Completion of the Graduate Certificate of Project Management will prepare you to pursue employment opportunities (subject to additional industry qualifications and experience you may require) as a project manager in diverse industries such as:agriculture,construction, engineering, manufacturing, mining ,transportation and many others.

Professional recognition

This course is part of an accreditation package granted by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the Australian Computer Society (ACS). The course units contribute to the required number of academic study units for profession certification with the Project Management Institute's (PMI) professional qualifications, such as CAPM or PMP.

Summary

The Graduate Certificate in Project Management is a specialist course and is ideal if you are a practicing project manager or if you aspire to become a project manager. The qualification provides practicing project managers and project directors with the technical skills to successfully run projects by focusing on the application of project management concepts applicable for a variety of industries.

The course introduces and develops skills to initiate projects and develop project plans to efficiently meet project goals. Case studies and practical material are embedded within the course to illustrate how the concepts of project management meet industry demands. It adopts a methodological approach to the application of project processes and highlights the integration of different frameworks to a project.

On successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Project Management, you will have a comprehensive understanding of project management and be able to confidently run projects and achieve targets and outcomes in the most challenging environments. The Graduate Certificate in Project Management can be undertaken as either a pathway or an exit qualification for the Graduate Diploma of Project Management, it is also an interim award within the Master of Information Technology.

Articulation arrangements

Upon completion of the CC33 Graduate Certificate in Project Management you may be interested in progressing your studies by continuing onto CV81 Graduate Diploma of Project Management. You will receive recognition for the units studied as part of the Graduate Certificate in Project Management.

Credit transfer information

If you have already completed study relevant to the course you have enrolled in, you may be eligible for credit transfer.

Course Requirements

To successfully complete your studies, you may be required to demonstrate that you can meet course requirements associated with your course. Entry Requirements

To gain entry to this course, you must have:

  • a bachelor degree in any discipline from an Australian university or equivalent; or
  • a recognised diploma or a recognised certificate IV and two years relevant business experience; or
  • a minimum of five years relevant management experience; or
  • a minimum of 10 years relevant business experience.

English Requirements

International Students

If you have English as your second language (international or domestic students born outside of Australia, Canada, NZ, UK, Ireland, South Africa or USA), you need to meet different English language proficiency requirements depending on the level of study and/or program you wish to undertake. Fees and scholarships

Fees

Degree-level students should check their Offer Letter to confirm the type of place they have been offered as this determines which fees apply to their enrolment. Students offered

  • Commonwealth supported places are liable to pay Student Contributions;
  • domestic full-fee places are liable to pay Tuition Fees;
  • international full-fee places are liable to pay International Tuition Fees.

In addition to these fees, degree-level students pay a Student Services and Amenities Fee. NOTE: Some students who are exempt from paying Student Contributions and Tuition Fees, e.g. Research Higher Degree candidates, will be required to pay a Student Services and Amenities Fee.

Fees are calculated upon enrolment, and recalculated after any enrolment change made prior to census date. Fees are also recalculated after administrative changes or updates are made to a student record, e.g. changes to citizenship status or Fee Liability Category.

Once calculated, fees can be viewed by logging into MyCentre, which also allows students to view and print Fee Notices on demand. The due date for payment is detailed on the Fee Notice.

PLEASE NOTE that paper Fee Notices are not issued by CQUniversity – students must access their Fee Notices in MyCentre.
