Throughout this course, learn how to plan, design, conduct, assess and review training and assessment – these are all “must have” skills for any successful trainer. 

This course (or the skill sets) is suitable preparation for those engaged in the delivery of training and assessment in any context including the workplace.

This course meets the minimum, mandatory qualification requirement for those who would like to train others in a specific industry or particular subject area within the Vocational Education Training (VET) sector.

Career Opportunities

This qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. Possible Career Titles include Enterprise Trainer, Registered Training Organisation Trainer, Training Adviser or Training Needs Analyst, Vocational Education Teacher

Entry Requirements

Students undertaking this course must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in their proposed teaching and assessment area. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience and may include, but not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification. 

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Is what I already know taken into account?

Yes. Your history of study, skills and experience does matter. Consideration is given to your prior life and work experiences as well as formal and informal training. This may be applied using the national standard for Mutual Recognition or through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Documentary evidence will be requested.

Mixed Mode

The following information refers to this courses attendance requirements:

This course is offered by Mixed Mode study with compulsory attendance required to scheduled workshops. Workshops will be held at CQUniversity Mackay City or CQUniversity Rockhampton City. 

Students must commit to a minimum of 15 hours on average each week for preparation of assignment tasks, prescribed reading and self-directed learning. Ongoing support is available by email, phone and scheduled appointments throughout the course.

The Queensland Government determines the schedule set by CQUniversity. Additional fees may be charged for printed materials, protective clothing and tools etc. A full copy of all regulations associated with VET fees can be accessed from the Queensland Government Legislation website.

All fees must be paid to finalise enrolment or a payment arrangement entered into. You will be liable for all payments, even if you discontinue enrolment, subject to the Refund Policy. Debt recovery action will be taken to recover outstanding fees. Please select from the following:

  • VET Student Loans
    VET Student Loans will commence from 1 January 2017 and is an interest free Australian Government income contingency loan that assists eligible full fee paying students to pay their Tuition Fees.
  • VET Government funded programs
    The cost of these programs is based on a student contribution fee. A concession may be available in some situations. Additional resource/material costs will vary from program to program.
  • VET fee-for-service programs (full fee paying)
    These are competitively priced full-fee paying programs which do not attract concessions.
